Note: Network Port Required for hosting a Voice Conference. SUMMARY This
article discusses the network port required to host a voice conference in PlanetSide
through a router. Note: No special configuration is necessary to join a Voice
Conference. These instructions only apply if you intend to host a Voice
Conference. MORE
INFORMATION The
following TCP port must be open to host a Voice Conference: PlanetSide
Voice Conferencing: 37000 TCP inbound In
addition, the computer hosting a Voice Conference must have a unique IP
address (non-internal) assigned to it. In most
cases, computers connected to Cable/DSL routers are assigned an internal IP
address (e.g. "192.168.xxx.xxx") via DHCP and will require Port
Forwarding to be configured on the router. The following steps will configure
your router to accept incoming Voice Conference traffic from PlanetSide (for
specific instructions on how to do this with your router, please consult your
router's manual): - Determine the IP
address of the computer that will host the voice conference.
- Configure the
router's Port Forwarding feature to forward port 37000 TCP to the IP
address that was found in the previous step.
If
these steps do not work, it may be necessary to update your router's
firmware. We have found that in some cases, older firmware versions do not
forward ports correctly. REFERENCES Linksys D-Link Netgear U.S. Robotics Microsoft Last
