During
your career as a combatant in Planetside you may encounter connection
problems at some point. To define connection issues, they are usually
indicated by receiving the following messages while playing: - "You have
left the world server"
- "Disconnected"
These
messages signify a loss of connectivity with the game servers. If you get
these messages you should check our server status webpage. If our servers are
currently active, attention should be brought to your connection to the
internet and anything that may impede or block your connection. - NOTE: Connections
issues result from different cause's then general game crashing problems
and should be treated differently. If you are experiencing game crashing
problems you may need to check other sections of this website for
additional troubleshooting tips.
The
following items are known to be sources of connection problems and the
information may be helpful if you are having problems connecting or staying
connected to Planetside. We understand that some of these devices or
technologies may have been in place for periods of time and have only
recently began having problems, but we would suggest that you please try
these troubleshooting tips: - Routers:
In general, they should be able to connect to the game without
modifications needed to the router. However, if you are experiencing
connection problems and are using a router, we would suggest
bypassing the router and connecting directly to your modem. If your
problems cease while bypassing the router you can try these three
things:
- Try resetting
your router to its default settings. In our testing, most routers were
able to play with their default settings in place. Please check our Router
Support page for information on how to do this for various
routers.
- Check your router
manufacturer's website for any available Firmware updates. If
available, download and install those.
- If the above
suggestions were not successful, or you have altered your router
settings in some way, please check our Firewall/Proxy information page for the information you will need to enable your
router to connect to the game servers.
- IRQ Conflicts for
Win98/ME: You should check if your network
adapter/modem is sharing an IRQ with your Video or Sound card. To check
for this, right click on the "My Computer" icon on your
desktop and choose "Properties" from the menu. Next, choose
the "Device Manager" tab and double click the
"Computer" entry at the top of the device list. This should
bring up the IRQ Resource window. If your network card is sharing an IRQ
with your Video or Sound card then you may need to move one of those
devices to a different IRQ to resolve the conflict.
- Modem/Network
Adapter Conflict: If you have a modem installed in
your computer along with the network card for either your Cable or DSL
modem then it may cause troubles. We recommend that you remove the modem
from your computer completely, or at least disable it, so there is no
conflict there between the modem and your network card.
- Firewall/Proxy/Anti-virus
Software: While an important part of home computer
security or a way to provide connection sharing, these technologies can
interfere with game connectivity. If you are having connection problems
and are using one of these types of software you should, if only
temporarily, try disabling or uninstalling it and then try connecting to
the game. If the problems cease while this software is disabled or uninstalled
you should check our Firewall/Proxy information page for the information you will need to ensure these types
of software work successfully with the game.
- Problems with
hosting PlanetSide Voice Conferencing: Issues with
hosting PlanetSide Voice Conferencing are usually related to the
incoming port for the conferencing being blocked by a firewall, be it
NAT, software, or something else. Check out our page for PlanetSide
Voice Conferencing to assist you if you are having difficulty
hosting one.
